My practice emphasizes the importance of family in their child's successful treatment and overall well-being. As part of this, I also provide family education so that loved ones may better understand their child's mental health issues and needs.
FAMILY FOCUSED
I support my clients’ experiences with depression and anxiety by emphasizing their strengths and building a step-by-step, manageable plan to work towards a happier future. No matter where an individual is in their journey, I recognize the importance of self-empowerment and building healthy, strong relationships.
PERSONALIZED SUPPORT
With more than 9 years of experience working with CBT & DBT therapies, I am also professionally trained in family-based therapy (Maudsley Model) for eating disorders, LGBTQ assessment and motivational interviewing, as well as anxiety-exposure therapy, play therapy, solution-focused therapy, structural family therapy, and trauma-focused therapy.
PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED IN
EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICEs
I am committed to using evidence-based therapies, drawing primarily from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients build the concrete skills they need to challenge unhelpful thought patterns and stay grounded in daily life. These highly effective forms of therapy teach skills such as emotional regulation and mindfulness.
MY APPROACH
I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) who offers therapy sessions in both English and Spanish to clients across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, adults and families. With particular expertise in developmental psychology, I am uniquely sensitive to the challenges that arise at stages of life transition, including entering a new school, relationship, job or becoming a parent.
I have experience working with all types of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), eating disorders, gender dysphoria, autism spectrum disorder, bipolar disorder, and intellectual disability.
